Particle identification and speciation testing performed at PTL is helpful in many applications. Identifying and characterizing particles can determine problems within sample material, leading to solutions in development and production processes. The results can also be used predictively, versus reactively, to reduce costly reprocessing or production downtime, and to assure product performance before failures occur.
Combined with other physical characterization techniques, Morphologically Directed Raman Spectroscopy (MDRS), or Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS or EDX) are used to identify and characterize particles, providing our clients with a better understanding of their material’s composition. The information provided from these analyses can be used for foreign material identification, process troubleshooting, and deformulation, among other uses. These sophisticated techniques compliment the other bulk property tests PTL performs on a daily basis and can provide a more comprehensive solution to our clients’ goals. Please contact us to discuss how these identification techniques may be applicable to your sample.
